Firefighting Drones - Made in Germany

We are a technology company based in Ludwigsfelde that develops intelligent drone systems for the early detection and suppression of forest and vegetation fires. With PEELIKAN, we are implementing an automated system that connects swarms of firefighting drones to innovative ground stations. These stations enable automatic battery replacement and refueling with fire suppressant - for rapid, automated firefighting operations. As part of the PEGASUS research project, we are currently working on technologies for drone-based forest fire suppression. The goal is to detect emerging fires early and target them specifically in their initial stages, thereby preventing the fire from spreading.

PEELIKAN

As the consortium leader, we worked together with the fire department, three leading universities, and an aviation security partner to design, develop, and test an innovative firefighting drone system under real-world conditions. The result is a solution for successfully fighting wildfires from the air 24/7. The PEELIKAN research project combines modern drone technology with the practical requirements of the fire department.

The focus was on deploying multiple firefighting drones in a swarm to create new possibilities for rapid, flexible, and targeted firefighting. PEELIKAN thus makes an important contribution to the further development of unmanned aerial systems for operational use in forest and wildland fires. The project (May 2023 to April 2025) was funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF).

PEGASUS

As part of the project, an innovative drone system is being developed for the early detection and suppression of wildfires, particularly in areas contaminated with munitions and those at high risk. The goal is to reach and suppress emerging fires as quickly as possible - even in areas where immediate deployment of ground-based firefighting crews is limited or involves increased risk.

The system is based on a firefighting drone stationed in the forest with an automated ground station. If a potential fire is detected, the drone is automatically activated and flies to the scene. Intelligent navigation and precise fire location will enable the drone to fly to the source of the fire quickly and accurately. The project (September 2025 to February 2028) is funded by the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology, and Space (BMFTR).
